At a book fair last year it was suggested that there is greater value in limited words when telling about my book. So,  I started introducing “Katie Has Two Homes” as “A Child’s Happily-EverAfter Bedtime Story” , written and illustrated for my 4 year-old grandaughter going through divorce. If that sparks an interest and there is time I will add: ”One day Katie told a family friend, “EVERYBODY loves me but it’s Mommy’s fault we don’t live with daddy anymore”. My grandaughter was asking why Mommy and Daddy didn’t live together anymore and we needed a way to answer. “Katie Has Two Homes” answers the real questions: Mommy and Daddy will always love you. The choices Mommy and Daddy make are not your fault. You can not to fix Mommy and Daddy. As a bedtime story the words and pictures gave Katie answers to her questions and within a week she was telling HER story to anyone who would listen, “Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess … and it’s OKAY!”.
